Growing up and hearing about the racism in the US made me feel some type of way despite living here. Especially in ethnic communities that remind us to be wary of people who aren’t like us. I’ve moved to a white area and my social group is mostly white and I’ve had a blast so far.
Im no longer afraid, like when i was younger, of walking/visitng strictly cacuasian neighbourhoods and quite enjoy it. And best of yet when i make eye contact with an old lady or man, even regularly millenials/gen x, and they smile it makes my day. Reinforces my hope in humanity.
